Gore Bay

Buoys Eatery: on Water St. at the Gore Bay water front.  Fresh made pizza, burgers and local whitefish are available.

Manitoulin Pizza Company: A Food truck parked at Split Rail Brewery so that you can enjoy a bit to eat while to sample the amazing local brew.

Split Rail Brewing: located at the end of Gore Bay harbour and across from the Harbour Center, this is a hot spot you will not want to miss.  Local beer,  that's how we rock!! 

Ultimately Chocolate: Lisabeth knows her chocolate! Her creations are made from bean to bar chocolate and can be purchased at Loco Beanz in Gore Bay and Little Current, Thistle do Nicely in South Bay Mouth and at Huron Times in Providence Bay. If you love decadent desserts visit buoys for flourless creations and seasonal options. 

Cod Mother's Family Restaurant: Located at 55 Meredith St. in Gore Bay. They offer English Style fish and chips and other dishes. They also serve Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. 

Almaz's Health Food Store and BistroLocated at 6 Eleanor St. not far from the Valu-mart in Gore Bay offers a beautiful and healthy lunch to eat on site or takeaway as well as many of your alternative shopping requirements during your stay. 



Main Street Cafe: this funky cafe you have to check out if you are in Kagawong! Great breakfast and lunch options, you can take-out,  get catering, or enjoy the outdoor seating to soak up the sun this summer. 

Manitoulin Chocolate Works: Located at 160 Main St. in Kagawong is worth the visit to satisfy a sweet tooth or a gift for a loved one. Choose from wonderful chocolate confections using Callebaut chocolate created here on Manitoulin Island. 



G.G.'s Diner: Located at 14957 Hwy 540 about 15 minutes west of Gore Bay this is a worthwhile stop for a home cooked meal en route to Misery Bay Provincial Park, Silver Water, Sheshegwaning First Nations and Meldrum Bay. They serve burger platters, sandwiches, Whitefish and other creations. They are open for Breakfast, lunch and dinner most days! 


Things To Do


Cup & Saucer Trail: located roughly 15-20 minutes from Gore Bay, this is one of the most popular hiking trails in Ontario as it leads to panoramic views from Manitoulin's highest elevation.  

Bridal Veil Falls: located in Kagawong, close to Ultimately Chocolate and Boo-Bah-Lou Candy Store, this is a site to see and you will not be disappointed with the hiking trails. Take a dip and see for yourself.  

Misery Bay Provincial Park: beautiful vistas, great hikes, and only 40mins away on the West End to explore the nature trails.  

Nimkee's Hiking Trail: Located North of Silver Water off Hwy 540, you can find a 20 km hike in a beautiful mixed forest trail that takes you to a bay in  Lake Huron. This trail is rated as moderate difficulty. For a shorter trail you can select the red trail of 4 km return and green trail at 4.5km. Before you leave you can visit the gas station and convenience store for snacks and directions. Note: The 20 km hike trail is one way, so plan accordingly.

Harbour Front Centre: Located at 15 Water Street close to Split Rail Brewery and Buoy's restaurant, is a great place to visit to appreciate local artisans and the marine Museum. Behind this building, you can find the Gore Bay public Beach. 

The Old Mill Heritage Centre & Edward Studio Located at 15 Old Mill Rd at Kagawong's Water Front, the Heritage Centre takes you back into  Kagawong's history. When you are done, you just need to go up the stairs to visit Edward's studios to discover a beautiful selection of local artisans wares to admire and purchase.
